When it comes to watercolor palettes, there's no better material than porcelain or ceramic.
A lot of artists suggest using ceramic plates (or specially designed palettes) as your watercolor pallet. This is a superb idea since ceramic has a smooth mixing surface and it does not stain. The paints stay moist longer and the color appears very true and real.
Another advantage of using porcelain is the ease of clean up. Most plastic and even metal palettes will stain over time from your paint colors – but porcelain palettes rarely stain watercolor.
